Lyrics:

Joyful, joyful we adore Thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Heart unfold like flowers before thee
Opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day

Repeat Verse 1

Chorus:
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Just call on your brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem
That you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on (lean on me)

All thy words with joy surround thee
Earth and heaven reflect thy rays
Stars and angels sing around thee
Center of unbroken praise
Field and forest, vale and mountain
Flow'ring meadow, flashing sea
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in thee

Call me (call me)
Call me (call me)
Call me (call me in the morning)
Call me (even in the noontime)
Call me (call me in the evening) (joyful, joyful we adore thee)
Call me (late at night) (God of glory, Lord of love)
Call me (you don't have to be ashamed, 'cause I know you know my number) (joyful, joyful we adore thee)
Call me (God of glory, Lord of love)
Call me (you can call me)
Call me (when you need me)
Call me (when you need a friend, call me)
Call me (when you got it out, call me)

Joyful, joyful we adore thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Joyful, Joyful we adore thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Scriptural Reference:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6

O Come, O Come Emanuel

Words and music: Traditional Chant
Arrangement: Gary Moyers © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Acappella Family Christmas by The Acappella Company.
Producer's Note: "What we know as classical music had its roots in Gregorian Chant, so we wanted to include some chant in this collection.  Unfortunately, most people are tired of it after about thirty seconds.  This was originally a 12th Century plainsong, which is basically a grownup chant.  It's also one of my all time favorite Christmas Carols."
Lead: Duane Adams
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Veni, Veni Emanuel
Captivum solve Israel

O come, o come, Emanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear

Chorus:
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emanuel
Shall come to thee, o Israel (come o come)

O come, now Dayspring come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine anthem here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of the night
And Death's dark shadows put to flight

Repeat Chorus

Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice (3-fold)

O come desire of nations bind
And warm the hearts of all mankind
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease
And be Thyself our Prince of Peace

Rejoice! (O come Emanuel) Rejoice! (O come Emanuel) Emanuel
Rejoice! (O come Emanuel) Rejoice! (O come Emanuel) Emanuel
Shall come to thee, o Israel
Shall come to thee, o Israel
Shall come to thee, o Israel

Scriptural Reference:

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."  Matthew 1:23 (KJV)

Variations on a Shaker Hymn

Words and music: Aaron Copland © 1994 Boosey & Hawkes Inc.
Producer's Note: "Copeland is probably one of the best known American composers.  This is the only piece he ever did that was based on an existing tune at the time.  The tune was a hymn that stretched back through generations of people that worked hard, loved God, and loved each other.  It reflects values that this country was founded on, the values of Christ, values that this country desperately needs to find again."
Lead: David McKinney
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

'Tis the gift to be simple
'Tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down
Where we ought to be
And when we find ourselves
In the place just right
'Twill be in the valley of
Love and delight

Scriptural Reference:

"The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say, 'Come!' Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life."  Revelation 22:17

In the Hall of the Mountain King

Words and music: Edvard Greig
Arrangement: Gary Moyers and Darin Cochran © 1994 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note: "I first heard this in elementary school.  I remember it frightened me.  I was small, the auditorium was big and dark, and all this sound was crashing down around me.  It amazes me that God made us so sensitive to music.  Even King Saul had David comfort him with his harp.  This song is a testament to the power God has given music."
Lead: Keith Lancaster and Gary Miller
Sample: Windows Media

Goin' Home

Music to the Largo of the Symphony "From the New World": Anton Dvorak
Words and arrangement: Gary Moyers © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note: "The story is told that Dvorak first heard this tune sung by the slaves during his trip to America.  He then returned to Czechoslovakia and composed the New World Symphony, which included this melody, as part of his impressions of the 'New World.'  Whatever the truth, I've always thought it was beautiful.  This one is for my parents, who truly are waiting for me there."
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home)
Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home)

Goin' home, goin' home, I'm a goin' home
Quiet like, still some day, I'm just goin' home
It's not far, just close by, through an open door
Work all done, care laid by
Going to fear no more
Mother's there, expecting me
Father's waiting too (father is waiting too)
Lots of folks gathered there (folks gathered there)
All the friends I knew
Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home, goin' home)
Goin' home

Morning star lights the way
Restless dream all done
Shadows gone, break of day
Real life just begun
There's no break, ain't no end
Just a living on (just a living on)
Wide awake with a smile, going on and on
Goin' home, goin' home, I'm a goin' home (goin' home)
It's not far, just close by, I'm a goin' home
Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home, goin' home)
Goin' home

Nothing's lost, all is gain, no longing for the day
No more stumbling on the way
No more fret nor pain
Goin' home, goin' home, I'm a goin' home
Quiet like, still some day, I'm a goin' home

I'm just goin' home
I'm a goin' home
Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home)
Goin' home (goin' home, goin' home)
Home

Scriptural Reference:

"Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them."  Hebrews 11:16

Arabian Dance

Music: Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71A
Words: Psalm 25:4-7
Arrangement: Gary Moyers © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note: "Something about this melody has always captivated me.  It was one of the first choices for this album.  I really wanted to find words that matched the depth of emotion found in the music.  Psalm 25:4-7 fit perfectly."
Lead: Kaci Bolls, Gary Moyers, and Brian Randolph
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Love me always my God

Tell me your ways, show me life's pathways
Guide me in your truth
Tell me your ways, teach me my Savior
Lord I trust you as each day becomes new, my God

Repeat Chorus

Lord remember mercy and love
You have shown from long ago
All the wrong things I've done in my youth
Please remember no more

Repeat Chorus

Tell me your ways, show me
Life's pathways
Guide me in Your truth
Tell me Your ways, teach me my savior
Lord I trust You

Repeat Chorus

My God

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.  Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.  Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.  You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."  Psalm 45:4-7

Canon in D

Words and music to "Jesus Let Us Come to Know You": Michael Card © 1982 Whole Armor, Adm. by Justin Peters/Lita Music
Music: Johann Pachabel
Arrangement: Gary Moyers © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)
Producer's Note: "I've played this piece in chamber orchestras for years.  Only recently did I realize that the popular youth group devotional song "Jesus Let Us Come to Know You" was actually the Pachabel Canon dressed a bit differently.  In the words of Solomon, "there is nothing new under the sun."
Lead: Brishan Hatcher
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Jesus let us come to know You
Let us see You face to face
Touch us, hold us
Use us, mold us
Only let us, live in You

Jesus (Jesus, Jesus) draw us ever (ever, ever) near
Hold us in your loving arms
Wrap us (wrap us, wrap us) in your gentle presence
When the end comes, bring us home

Scriptural Reference:

"Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, 'Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.'"  John 7:28-29

Arrangement: Kevin Schaffer © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)

Lyrics:

O sacred head now wounded with grief and shame weighed down
Now scornfully surrounded with thorns, Thine only crown
How art Thou pale with anguish with sore abuse and scorn
How does that visage languish which once was bright as morn

What language shall I borrow to thank Thee dearest friend
For this Thy dying sorrow, thy pity without end
O make me Thine forever and should I fainting be
Lord, let me never, never outlive my love to Thee (to Thee)

Amen Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

“They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. 'Hail, king of the Jews!' they said.” Matthew 27:28-29
