Well the world was wicked Sin polluting the land Satan ruled the
hearts and minds of man God saw light in Noah's clan He knew that

Two by two all creatures comin' on board Noah and his family and
then God shut the door For forty days and nights the floodwaters they
poured And everything living on earth was no more

in the eyes of the Lord
Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:
"By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear
built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and
became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith." Hebrews 11:7
There was a giant of the philistine nation (nation) A mighty warrior
standing ten feet tall He shouted boastings that no Israelite could
beat him He was ungodly and as mean as his sin
A boy named David stepped up to the situation Goliath's threats
became a godly call He chose some stones, and with God's force he
started slingin' He knew by faith the victory he would win
Chorus: He was a man after God's own heart He had a faith that
set him apart He showed commitment right from the start He was a, he
was a, he was a man after God's own heart
There was a king of the Israelite nation Tall, dark and handsome,
rich - his name was Saul Lost his anointing due to sin's impatience
He disobeyed the Lord and next was his fall
The Lord called David to the situation He was a young man, but he
heard God's call He'd be anointed, he'd be Saul's replacement To
lead God's nation, holy chosen of all
Repeat Chorus
He was a man after God's own heart
Repeat Chorus
Israel surrounded by the heathen nation Edom and Moab and the
Philistines Their bloody swords dripping annihilation Numbers and
powers seemed they had it all
David the man of God addressed the situation (he prayed) Gave thanks
and praised the Lord all powerful He stressed his faith among the
congregation Wherever David went the Lord helped him win
Repeat Chorus (x2)
Man after God's own heart (he was a man) He was a man after God's
own heart (he was a man, he was a man, he was a man) The Lord is my
Shephard, I shall not want (man after God's own heart)
Scriptural Reference:
"As he was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from
Gath, stepped out from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David
heard it. When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in
great fear." 1 Samuel 17:23-24 "Then he took his staff in his
hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of
his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the
Philistine. Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in
front of him, kept coming closer to David. He looked David over and
saw that he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome, and he despised him.
He said to David, 'Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?' And
the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 'Come here,' he said, 'and
I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!'
David said to the Philistine, 'You come against me with sword and
spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord
Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down
and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine
army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole
world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered
here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for
the battle is the Lord 's, and he will give all of you into our hands.'
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly
toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking
out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The
stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground." 1
Samuel 17:40-49 "After removing Saul, he made David their king. He
testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my
own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'" Acts 13:22

him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to

Ever wonder what the Pharisees might have had to say about John the
Baptist? "Oy! We saw that wild man in the desert today. I'd like to
meet his tailor and smack him but good! And what with his hair all over
the place! He calls us a mess?! Snakes he's calling us! And what is that
stuff he's eating there? Well, it's kind of an acquired taste, but if
you can learn to like wild honey, you've got to try the bees. I'm kind of
partial to locusts myself only thing is I hate it when their little legs
get stuck in your teeth."
Chorus: Well, he's John the Baptist from the wilderness What he's
been doin' is anyone's guess His kind of preachin' really cuts like a
knife Says the Lord is comin' better change your life
"Yep, you better believe it. What do you know...you've been under
the sun too long! We are the children of Abraham! Hah! God can make
children of Abraham out of these rocks! I think you got a few of them in
your head...If I were you, I would repent and bear fruit... I'd rather
bear a fruit than be a fruit. Hey! Come here! Do you wanna go for a
swim? Get away from me!"
Repeat Chorus
In our pursuit of the truth How often we are deceived By trusting
only that which we see Would the unsearchable God Merely show me his
will Through only those who look like me?
If it's the glory of Kings to search things out And it's the glory
of God to conceal Then a wildman prophet can be no more absurd Than
the manger King he reveals
Repeat Chorus
Change your life (repent, repent, repent, repent, repent) Change
your life
Scriptural Reference:
"John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt
around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went
out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the
Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the
Jordan River." Matthew 3:4-6
His mother was the favored one, eleventh born of Dad's twelve
sons He always seemed his father's favorite child He was the son of
Dad's old age and the center of his brother's rage A jealousy they
could not reconcile
His brothers felt it was unfair, the dreams of Joe they could not
bear Their father's love they would not understand A precious coat
would cinch the deal, but Reuben said they could not kill So they sold
young Joe into a foreign land
Chorus: He walked the path that God had laid Though he could not
see the end of that long road Through the years he kept the
faith And that is why I sing this song for Joe
He wound up in Egyptian land, the life of slaves he learned
firsthand As servant to the captain of the guard All was good that
he began so the captain made young Joe headman He began to think this
life was not that hard
But the captain's wife had other plans, thinking Joe a handsome
man Her propositions came to no avail Incensed because he would not
sin, she set him up and turned him in So they threw him in the
Pharaoh's darkest jail
Repeat Chorus
Once again the Lord was there, they put the jail in young Joe's
care And everything he touched seemed to gleam He met two men from
Pharaoh's court, they began a good rapport And God helped him interpret
all their dreams
This led to an opening and young Joe heard the dreams of kings There
would be a famine in the land He gave the Pharaoh good advice, and
Pharaoh saw that he was wise So he made young Joe the second in command
Repeat Chorus
He wondered how his family was, and did his father live? He prayed
that God would watch over his home He realized the trials he'd had were
all within God's plan When His brothers came and bowed before his
throne
Repeat Chorus (x2)
Walk on, walk on brother Walk on, walk on and on
Scriptural Reference:
"Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he
had been born to him in his old age; and he made a richly ornamented robe
for him. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than
any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.
Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him
all the more." Genesis 37:3-5 "When Reuben heard this, he tried
to rescue him from their hands. 'Let's not take his life,' he said."
Genesis 37:21 "So when the Midianite merchants came by, his
brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty
shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt."
Genesis 37:28 "Meanwhile, the Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to
Potiphar, one of Pharaoh's officials, the captain of the guard."
Genesis 37:36 "And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he
refused to go to bed with her or even be with her." Genesis
39:10 " Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where
the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the
prison, the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him
favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in
charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for
all that was done there." Genesis 39:20-22 "Then Pharaoh said to
Joseph, 'Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so
discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and
all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the
throne will I be greater than you.'" Genesis 41:39-40 "Now Joseph
was the governor of the land, the one who sold grain to all its people. So
when Joseph's brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to
the ground." Genesis 42:6
